Where is the pen? Kalem nerede?

The pen is on the box.
The pen is in the box.
The pen is under the box.
The pen is next to the box.
The pen is behind the box.
The pen is in front of the box.
The pen is inside the box. 
The pen is outside the box.

Unutmayın! In ve inside aynı anlama gelir fakat inside anlama daha fazla kesinlik katar. Outside bir şeyin ya da birinin dışarıda olduğunu belirtir fakat kesin bir konum belirtmez.

There is (var) veya there are (varlar) bir şeyin var olduğuna işaret etmek için kullanırız. Bu sözcükleri genellikle yer edatları ile birlikte kullanılırız. Tekil için there is, çoğul için there are kullanırız.

Adet sormak için “How many?” (Kaç tane?) sorusunu kullanırız.
How many + çoğul isim + are there…?

A: How many apples are there on the table? Masada kaç elma var?
B: There is one apple. Bir elma var.

A: How many pens are there in the box? Kutuda kaç kalem var?
B: There are two pens. İki kalem var.
A: How many books are there next to the box? Kutunun yanında kaç kitap var?
B: There is one book. Bir kitap var.
