Correlative bağlaçlar cümleleri veya tümceleri birleştirmek için cümle içinde ikili olarak kullanılırlar.
both . . . and = her iki şey/kişi de dahil
either . . . or = olasılıklar ve seçimler için..
neither . . . nor = dahil olmayan iki veya daha fazla kişi/şey/eylem
not only . . . but also = iki söylem de doğru ise..
whether ... or = iki alternatif belirtmek için..
Örnekler:
Both Carolin and Ryan love going to the beach. Hem Carolin hem de Ryan plaja gitmeyi sever.
Sorry, I don't have any tea. It’s either coffee or hot chocolate. Üzgünüm, hiç çayım yok. Kahve veya sıcak çikolata.
Neither my mother nor my father went to university. Ne annem de ne babam üniversiteye gitti. (üniversite mezunu anlamında)
It was hot not only in Italy but also in the UK. Sadece İtalya’da değil, İngiltere’de de hava çok sıcaktı.
