And, or, but (ve, veya, ama) bağlaçları iki kısa cümleyi birleştirerek uzun bir cümle oluşturur.
Örneğin,
She has breakfast (O kahvaltı eder) She goes to work. (O işe gider)
=
She has breakfast and goes to work. (O kahvaltı eder ve işe gider)
And
“And” bağlacını sözcükleri birleştirmek veya yeni sözcük eklemek için kullanırız.
She swims. O koşar.
She runs. O yüzer.
=
She runs and swims. O koşar ve yüzer.
I have oranges. Portakallarım var.
I have milk. Sütüm var.
=
I have tomatoes, oranges and milk. Domateslerim, portakallarım ve sütüm var.
Carolin likes dogs. Carolin köpekleri sever.
Ryan likes dogs. Ryan köpekleri sever.

Carolin and Ryan like dogs. Carolin ve Ryan köpekleri sever.
Or
“Or” bağlacını bir veya daha çok seçenek olduğunda kullanırız.
Do you want tea or coffee? (Çay mı istersin kahve mi?)
Coffee, please. (Kahve lütfen)
I like dogs. Köpekleri severim.
Are you English or American? İngiliz misin Amerikalı mısın?
I’m American. Amerikalıyım.
But
“But” bağlacını zıt fikirler sunarken kullanırız.
Ryan likes cats. Ryan kedileri sever.
Carolin doesn’t like cats. Carolin kedileri sevmez.

Ryan likes cats but Carolin doesn’t. Ryan kedileri sever ama Carolin sevmez.
Susan likes music. Susan müzik sever.
Susan doesn’t like dancing. Susan dans etmeyi sevmez.
=
Susan likes music but she doesn’t like dancing. Susan müzik sever ama dans etmeyi sevmez.
